Add-on v1.0.12

Offers & gift cards

Overview

Discounts, discount codes, vouchers, packs of uses, gift cards and store credit for a business that already runs on its own tables. An order’s reductions are worked out, and what was used is recorded, in the same save that writes the order — or the save writes nothing. It keeps offers: a percent, an amount, a fixed price, a bonus item or a price by quantity, with the days, hours, minimums, groups and limits each is held to; codes a customer types, each with its own limit and last day; vouchers and packs; and gift cards and store credit, with every row that put value on one or took it off — a card never goes below nothing. Gift cards, credit and named vouchers go out by email, and a card or a voucher is drawn to print, on a page or on receipt paper. An app that serves customers may show a card’s balance, by its code or by the link in its email. It attaches to no app in particular, and works with none at all: a card can be issued, a voucher used and a code made from its own screens. Nothing is fetched from anywhere and no account is needed.

What it attaches to

This one is not tied to one app. It works inside Adminium itself, and in any app that hosts add-ons.

What connecting lets it do

Switched on, it brings tables of its own and writes there what an order used, in the same save as the order. A card’s code spends the card, so the two roles that work a counter read its last four characters only; the manager reads every code. The balance page answers a card’s status, balance and last day, and nothing more. It reaches nothing outside your installation: there is no key to keep and nothing to sign in to.

Addresses its server code may reach

None. It reaches nothing outside your own installation.

  • In an app that works with it: a code field on an order, offers that apply by themselves, and a gift card at payment
  • In an app that serves customers: a page where a gift card’s balance is read, by its code or by the link in its email

If you switch it off

Disconnecting removes an add-on’s surfaces. It never drops the tables it created, deletes the files it wrote, or removes the rows it added — everything it wrote stays in your database.

What stays

Every table it created stays in your database with its rows: offers, codes, vouchers, gift cards with every row that changed their value, and what was applied to each order.

What goes

Its screens leave the dashboard. The apps that used it stop taking codes and gift cards: no code field, no gift card at payment, no balance page, and prices are what they were without it.

About the demo

This one calls no outside service at all — in the demo or self-hosted — so it has no stand-in transport, and there is nothing to switch off. The add-ons that do reach out ship one and it is on by default, so no demo on this site makes a real call to anyone else’s service.

How to switch it on The Point of Sale, Online Ordering and Hotel Reservations demos on this site show what an app does with it, answered from built-in data. In your own Adminium, add Offers & gift cards under Add-ons — an app that works with it also offers it when the app is installed — and its Offers pages appear in the dashboard menu.
